School Canceled For Plainfield D202 Due To Icy Roads
Students and staff had an unexpected day off Tuesday as a result of icy road conditions, District 202 officials said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield School District 202 students got a sudden day off from school Tuesday due to icy road conditions, officials announced.
Officials announced at about 5:30 a.m. that Tuesday is an emergency day, meaning students and staff neither have to attend in-person classes nor participate in remote learning. As a result, attendance will need to be made up at the end of the school year.
The National Weather Service predicted total ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch Tuesday, and snow and sleet accumulations of up to a half-inch, Patch reported.

After-school activities and the YMCA Kid Zone were also canceled Tuesday. Linda Taylor, the district's director of community relations, said a decision on athletics will be made later Tuesday and encouraged students to watch for information from their respective coaches.
