Settlers' Park Movie, Concert Schedule Announced

Movies, concerts in the park begin in June in downtown Plainfield.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The weather is warming up and soon, summer festival season will begin. In Plainfield, free movies and concerts will also begin in Settlers' Park. The Village of Plainfield just released this year's lineup of family movies and the 2018 concert performers.

The Village of Plainfield and Plainfield Park District will host the events in the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater. Settlers' Park is located in Downtown Plainfield, southeast of the intersection of Lockport Street and VanDyke Road, and just south of the Village Hall. Parking is available in the Village Hall Parking Lot, onVillage Center Drive and on Van Dyke Road.

This year, movies begin at 8:30 p.m. on the following Fridays:

  • June 8: Despicable Me 3 (2017), PG, sponsored by Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc.
  • June 22: The Lion King (1994), G, sponsored by Baxter & Woodman, Inch.
  • July 13: Coco (2017), PG, sponsored by Busey Bank
  • July 27: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), G, sponsored by Waste Management

This year's concerts in the park are presented by Greg and Dorothy Chapman. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. on the following Thursdays:

  • June 14: Second Hand Soul, sponsored by Illinois American Water
  • July 19: Final Say
  • Aug. 2: Billy Croft & The 5-Alarm, sponsored by Aerotek Design Labs, LLC

Some important things to remember:

  • Terraced seating is available. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, & bug spray.
  • Movies are shown on a 20' inflatable screen.
  • Concessions (popcorn, snacks, etc.) are available.
  • If inclement weather is forecast, movies/concerts may be moved indoors or rescheduled. In case of a cancellation, please call the Settlers' Park Event Hotline at (815) 609-6124 or visit the village website for updates after 4 p.m. on the day of the movie/concert.
