Spectrum Youth Singers To Host 'Peace, Love, Joy' Winter Concert

Saturday's concert will feature songs of the season, a carol sing-along and a performance of "Carol of the Bells" sung in Ukrainian.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Spectrum Youth Singers are preparing to host their annual "Peace, Love, Joy" winter concert Saturday.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Plainfield Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, located at 24020 W. Fraser Road. The show will feautre songs of the season, a carol sing-along and "inspiring harmonies of young voices."

Organizers said one of the highlights of the concert is sure to be a performance of "Carol of the Bells," sung in Ukrainian. The carol will be accompanied by the bandura, a Ukraininan string folk instrument.

"Come and enjoy the unique sound of Plainfield's young voices," Oksana Rodak, the choir's artistic director, said in a news release.

Following the concert, auditions will be held for children in grades 6-10 interested in joining the choir for the upcoming season.

"If you have a passion for singing, and are eager to learn more about music and enjoy performing, then come sing with Spectrum Youth Singers!" Rodak said. "Tuition is affordable, the music education is simply the best, and you will make beautiful music and friends."

Tickets to the winter concert, which can be purchased at the door, cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
