St. Mary Immaculate New State of the Art Stem lab
Sixth grade students of St. Mary Immaculate are using new state of the art STEM lab to learn about science, technology, engineering, & math
The sixth grade students of St. Mary Immaculate are using the new state of the art STEM lab to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math. As part of a unit on roller coasters, they completed two mini projects on foundational support to help them learn what shape would be the strongest to use for the foundation of their roller coaster model which will be made out of paper and tape.
Marbles will be used as the roller coaster cars. This is part of the seven step STEM Explore unit through the Cyber Innovations Center. The unit culminates with the students creating and developing a prototype of a roller coaster model based on STEM concepts learned. The students test and evaluate their prototypes. After reflection, the students write about how they might improve and redesign their prototype based on the results. The engineering design process is followed throughout this cross-curricular unit. We look forward to watching these projects develop.
