St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Leads To 89 Citations: Plainfield PD

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police's St. Patrick's Day enforcement yielded a total of 89 tickets, officials said Thursday.

During the March 8-17 campaign, officers stepped up impaired driving and seat belt enforcement, particularly at night when usage is typically the lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and all traffic laws were also strictly enforced, Patch reported.

Citations issued include the following:

  • 42 seat belt usage
  • 15 for speeding
  • 8 for illegal cell phone usage
  • 24 other

Police also made five arrests, including two related to drugs and three for driver's license violations.

Plainfield police joined forces with state and local law enforcement agencies for the campaign paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
