Streets To Temporarily Close Ahead Of Plainfield Memorial Day Parade

The parade will step off at 10:45 a.m. Monday from Ira Jones Middle School.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A few streets in Plainfield will temporarily close Monday as a result of the Memorial Day parade, police said.

The Plainfield American Legion Marne Post 13 will honor veterans with its annual parade stepping off at 10:45 a.m. from Ira Jones Middle School, 15320 S. Wallin Drive.

From the school, the procession will travel east on Ottawa Street, enter onto the path of Settler's Park, near the intersection of Van Dyke Road and Ottawa Street, before continuing east and ending at the memorial in the park.

As a result, the following roads will close from about 10:30 a.m. until the parade reaches the memorial, which police expect to be around 11 a.m.

  • Wallin Drive at Ottawa Street
  • Ottawa Street from Wallin Drive to Van Dyke Road
  • Van Dyke Road at Ottawa Street

A wreath-laying ceremony, rifle salute and band performances will occur following the parade.

Parking will also be limited at Village Hall and along Village Center Drive. Parade-goers will be able to find additional parking at the middle school and on Van Dyke Road south of Ottawa Street. Handicapped parking will be available at Village Hall.
