Man Charged With Arson In Connection With 'Suspicious' Plainfield Fire: Authorities

Firefighters were called to the scene early Sunday morning.

WILL COUNTY, IL — A man was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with a fire that occurred overnight in the Plainfield area and was deemed suspicious by authorities, according to law enforcement.

Isaias J. Navarro Elorsa, 26, was booked Sunday afternoon into Will County jail on two counts of residential arson and two counts of criminal damage using fire or explosives totaling $500 to $10,000, jail records show. Elorsa, of the 100 block of Mountain Laurel Court in Romeoville, is set to appear in court on Tuesday, according to jail records.

Emergency personnel received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. Sunday about the blaze in the 23700 block of 119th Street, according to the Plainfield Fire Protection District.

Firefighters arrived to find a detached four-car garage and a separate horse barn, both on fire, authorities said, adding no humans or horses were reported to be injured.

On Sunday morning, the fire protection district said in a news release that the cause of the blaze had "been classified as suspicious" and the incident was under investigation.

The Plainfield district received assistance from neighboring fire agencies in the Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Oswego and Troy areas, as well as help from the Plainfield Police Department and Will County Sheriff’s Office.
