Village President

Current Village President Mike Collins, a former Plainfield police officer who worked for the Illinois State Police from 1969 to 1998, is running unopposed. He's a longtime Plainfield elected official, serving as a village trustee from 1999 to 2007 before being elected mayor in 2009. He was re-elected in 2013.

Trustees

Three out of six spots on the board of trustees are up for election, and incumbents Margie Bonuchi and Garrett Peck are both seeking another term.

Bonuchi, district technology administrator for Plainfield School District, was elected to the board in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.

Peck -- who previously told reporters he would not run for a third term to pursue a double master's degree -- is now seeking re-election. A technology business owner who formerly served as the executive director of the Plainfield Park District, Peck was also elected to the board in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.

Another incumbent, Jim Racich, resigned in December after 11 years on the board and is not seeking re-election. His resignation came after he and his wife purchased property in Joliet, with plans to sell their Plainfield home, he told the Herald-News.

Larry Newton, a current Plainfield Park District commissioner, has thrown his hat into the ring. Newton, who was re-elected in 2015, said he would step down from the park board if he won the village board seat. He called running for the village board "something I've wanted to do for a long time."

Newcomer Cally J. Larson, a realtor, is also seeking a spot on the board.
