Woman Found Slumped Over Steering Wheel with Severe Head Wound

The woman was taken to a hospital, but died a short time later.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A woman found slumped over her steering wheel with severe head trauma was pronounced dead Monday evening.

Police say a small, white SUV was found stopped in traffic at around 6:02 p.m. Monday. Inside the SUV, police saw a woman hanging over the steering wheel with severe trauma to her head.

The woman was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Lockport Street between Van Dyke Road and Wallen Drive was closed for around two hours while the scene was processed. The road is now open.

Police are investigating the incident as a suspicious death.
