YMCA Named Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year

Submitted by the Greater Joliet Area YMCA:

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA was named the 2013 Business of the Year by the Joliet Chamber of Commerce at its annual dinner on November 4. Staff and volunteers were on hand to celebrate this amazing honor, as President and CEO Jim Watts, Chief Operating Officer Katy Leclair and Metropolitan Board of Directors Volunteer Donna Zanzola accepted the award on the Y’s behalf.

One of the area’s leading nonprofits, committed to strengthening communities through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been a mainstay in our community for more than eight decades. Through its three full-service branches - two in Joliet and one in Plainfield, its Central City “Y without Walls” and Morris Community YMCA programs the Y is serving thousands of area residents each and every day. The Y brings families closer together, encourages good health, and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. But, most importantly, its doors are open to everyone, regardless of age, income or background. At the Y, no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
