• ‘This project is delivering': Suburban leaders credit flood-prevention efforts for keeping towns dry during recent deluges (dailyherald.com) — Flooding along the Fox River and Chain O’ Lakes hit Port Barrington hard this month, with standing water closing roads, bridges and some businesses. While nearby towns like Wheeling, Mundelein and Des Plaines stayed mostly dry thanks to major stormwater upgrades, Port Barrington and other Chain communities endured significant flooding, underscoring how infrastructure investments can make a big difference when heavy rains arrive.
