• Back Home – World War II airman from Prairie du Rocher returns 82 years after death - (bellevillemessenger.org) — Residents lined the route from Red Bud to Prairie du Rocher on May 16 as World War II airman Edgar “Billy” Nevois was brought home for burial after his remains were identified in 2022. A visitation at Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud preceded the military graveside service, where family and community members honored his long-delayed return. 
• Softball Lions make third-straight trip to state meet (bnd.com) — Red Bud High School’s softball team saw its postseason run end Monday with a 6-0 loss to top-ranked Carterville in the Class 2A Carbondale Super-Sectional at SIU. The Musketeers managed just two hits against standout pitcher Caidence Phillips as Carterville advanced to its third straight state tournament in Peoria.
