15 Fire Departments Put Out Brush Fire Near Lockport Twp.

One firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries battling the blaze Wednesday.

A firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after a large, fast-moving brush fire burned through a parking lot in Will County, near Lockport Township and Joliet, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Fifteen fire departments from around the area fought the blaze at 1 Genstar Lane, the report stated. The first units from the Lockport Fire Protection District responded at about 4:33 p.m., and crews were still trying to put out hot spots as late as 7 p.m., the report added.

The fire also damaged some of the semitrailers parked in the lot, the report stated.

This was the second brush fire that broke out in the area Wednesday. Joliet and Troy fire crews fought a blaze earlier in the afternoon along West Mound Road.
