15 Seatbelt, 4 Cell Phone Citations During Romeoville PD Enforcement

The recent holiday enforcement effort ran Dec. 16 to Jan. 2.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville Police Department issued 15 seatbelt and four cell phone citations during its recent holiday enforcement effort, which ran Dec. 16 to Jan. 2, the department said in a release.

The department also made one arrest for possession of controlled substance, two vehicle pursuits with one driver taken into custody for aggravated fleeing and eluding, and several arrests for driving while license suspended/revoked and no valid driver's license.

Police also wrote citations for equipment and registration violations, and moving violations.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to reduce highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up, the department said.

During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours.
The holiday enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
