Fisher said the boy rode across lanes of eastbound traffic and was struck by a car traveling westbound.

Police and fire that arrived on the scene began giving medical attention to the boy and took him to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, according to Fisher. He was then transferred to Loyola Hospital.

A nurse on the scene said the boy possibly had broken arms and trauma to his face and head, according to police.

“He was conscious and breathing on the scene,” Fisher said.

The drive of the vehicle was a 15-year-old boy. He was not cited in the crash, according to police.

“That’s a very dangerous spot to cross the road and it’s not marked as any kind of pedestrian crossing,” Fisher said. “Right now it’s still under investigation.”
