Police said they responded to a welfare check at 3:20 a.m. on May 31 on Gleneagle Court. Gil was reported to be exhibiting "increasingly erratic behavior," police said.

Officers tried to speak with Gil and encouraged him to seek medical evaluation, but he refused and continued acting disorderly, including damaging property and entering neighboring yards, police told Patch.

Gil then became verbally and physically aggressive, "lunging toward officers in an apparent attempt to provoke a reaction and making movements toward an officer’s holstered Taser," police said.

Officers attempted to detain him for safety reasons, and he resisted and spit on an officer during the struggle, according to police.

Gil was taken into custody without reported injury and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
