• Save The Date For Romeoville Fire Department Open House (patch.com) — Romeoville families are invited to the Fire Department's annual fire prevention open house on Oct. 10 at Fire Station No. 1, featuring demonstrations, a touch-a-truck, obstacle course, food and a visit from Sparky. Timed with National Fire Prevention Week, the event offers a hands-on way to learn safety while enjoying kid-friendly activities close to home.
   

• Girls golf: 2026 Herald-News preview capsules (shawlocal.com) — Romeoville High School's girls golf team returns five varsity players and aims to turn last year's 1-8 record into at least two conference wins while sending multiple golfers to sectionals.
