• Save The Date For Romeoville Fire Department Open House (patch.com) — Romeoville families are invited to the Fire Department's annual fire prevention open house on Oct. 10 at Fire Station No. 1, featuring demonstrations, a touch-a-truck, obstacle course, food and a visit from Sparky. Timed with National Fire Prevention Week, the event offers a hands-on way to learn safety while enjoying kid-friendly activities close to home. 
• Girls golf: 2026 Herald-News preview capsules (shawlocal.com) — Romeoville High School's girls golf team returns five varsity players and aims to turn last year's 1-8 record into at least two conference wins while sending multiple golfers to sectionals. Coach Matt Joerger is also focused on growing overall program numbers. The broader preview highlights how Romeoville stacks up against other Will and Grundy County teams this fall.
