Bids Awarded For Romeo Crossing Park Project

Bids were awarded for two phases of the Romeo Crossing Park, which includes a dog park.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Plans continue to move forward for the Romeo Crossing Park Project, as the Village Board approved awarding bids for two phases of the project at its Wednesday meeting.

Bids for the project were opened in February, Kelly Rajzer, Director of Parks and Recreation, said. The lowest bidder was Georgia's Landscaping.

This project includes two separate dog areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs, an agility course for dogs, asphalt walking paths, 8-foot high fencing, identification signage, parking lot with adjacent entry drive, concrete paving, entry drop-off plaza, decorative lighting, two shelters, security cameras, drinking fountain with pet bowl, sled and exercise hill access, stairway and path access, Romeo Road landscaping, and buffer and grading.

"We understand this project is a big financial investment, but doing both phases concurrently will save money in the long run by avoiding remobilization costs," Rajzer said.

The project had faced delays due to applying for grants and the bidding environment.

"We chose to go for bidding again earlier this year," Mayor John Noak said. "It came back much more favorable."

Village Communication Specialist Mark Serratore told Patch that the entire park is 60 acres, and the total cost for the two phases is $4.3 million. The Village has received $600,000 toward the project in grant funding.
