Romeoville police responded to a report a fight with one person stabbed around 8:45 p.m. Thursday. Assistant Police Chief Steven Lucchesi declined to say what sparked the alleged dispute.

"That aspect is still under investigation," he said. Lucchesi told the Chicago Tribune that police believe the fight occurred during a pre-arranged meeting between Almodovar and Orozco, saying the Romeoville man and the Joliet teenager were acquaintances.

Almodovar was arrested Friday after being released from Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, police said. According to Lucchesi, Almodovar suffered facial injuries and a concussion in the altercation.

Lucchesi said police arrived to find Orozco unconscious in the parking lot. According to the Will County Coroner's office, Orozco sustained multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m.

Almodovar served several months in jail after pleading guilty in 2012 to charges including burglary and identity theft in Romeoville, according to court records.

Last month, a Will County judge issued an emergency order of protection against Almodovar following an arrest for battery and domestic battery, records show. The Joliet teen was not listed among the plaintiffs in the case. The order of protection was dismissed April 22, according to court records.

Almodovar is due back in court Monday.
