Boyfriend Shoots Woman, Man In Romeoville: Police
Police found the suspect hiding in an open shipping container in Cook County.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Two people were found with gunshot wounds early Sunday in a yard in the 200 block of McKool Avenue, police said. Officers responded to a report of shots fired at around 1:51 a.m. to find a 23-year-old woman and 22-year-old man lying in the yard with gunshot wounds.
Police began first aid on the two victims until paramedics from the Romeoville Fire Department arrived on the scene.
Cmdr. John Ferdinardo said the woman was shot in the right shoulder and lower abdomen, and the man was shot in the left shoulder. Both victims were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ferdinardo said the woman was able to identify the shooter as her boyfriend, 22-year-old Jaquan Wilkins of Chicago.
Romeoville detectives were able to find Wilkins' vehicle in a semi-truck parking lot in McCook. Police established a perimeter around the lot and were conducting surveillance when Wilkins exited a semi-truck and walked around the side of the vehicle, according to police.

Officers from the Cook County Sheriff's Department SWAT unit approached Wilkins, who fled into the truck lot. Police found an open shipping container where Wilkins was believed to be hiding.
According to police, Wilkins surrendered after the Romeoville Police K9 officer announced his presence.
Wilkins was taken to the Romeoville Police Department before being booked into the Will County jail on two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. He is due in court Monday afternoon.
Ferdinardo told Patch police do not currently have any indication of the motive for the shooting and said it remains under investigation.
