Getting older...
Getting older...is it really as bad as it's made out to be? What have you learned? What memories do you keep with you?
This past weekend, I attended the 20th reunion of my college graduation...wow, I'm getting older. It was good to see some "old" faces as we took a class picture together but I couldn't help but think, "boy, I hope I don't look as old as she/he does."
I don't know about you, but I find myself looking at people my age and wondering when they got so old because I still picture my 22-year-old self. Okay, my body aches a little more than it did then; I may have a few more wrinkles; and I definitely have gray hair now that I didn't have then.
But, what I also have is experience, wisdom, and years filled with memories.

I don't know about you, but I'm not one of those people who live in the past. In fact, I tend to be someone who enjoys living right in the moment. Likewise, I don't like to spend time thinking too much about the future, as only God knows what it will bring and I trust His Word that He knows the plans He has for me. "They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
So, for me, sitting in this present moment is just fine. I enjoy reading a book while sitting with my son. I like laughing at some goofy television show while I watch with my daughter. I appreciate chatting on Facebook with my oldest who is away at college. And I love just hanging around with my hubby thinking about how far we've come.

So, for those of you for whom getting older is always a struggle, I encourage you to try to live in the moment. Think of the many blessings you have right now and all that you've learned over the years. Sure, there may be things you wish you could have done differently, but, God-willing tomorrow is another day and another chance for you to do it "right."
Getting older...it's not so bad. In fact, they say "getting older" is the new "getting younger." Just kidding, but hey, it's worth a shot, right?
