This morning, after running some errands and before going to the office, I stopped at home to get my lunch. As I was backing out, I saw this family of geese across the street. They were walking down the sidewalk. I'm assuming mama was in the front with maybe 8 or 10 goslings and then 2 adult geese behind them, bringing up the rear.
As soon as I saw them, I got a smile on my face. I decided to follow them in my car to make sure no one hit them. I knew they were headed to a pond south of our house. So, I watched them as they walked, and then "jogged" across the street, getting closer to the pond. I followed them all the way to the pond and watched as the goslings timidly went in the water.
A local police officer who had been patrolling our neighborhood saw the geese too and said he'd never seen "jogging" geese ... and that it looked like an army drill. We laughed.

It was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. And, I immediately thanked God for giving me that moment.
I was struck by the protectiveness of the adult geese as I trailed slowly behind them.

I was struck by the trust that the little goslings had for the adult geese.
I was struck by how the goslings followed along, in a line, with their little feet quickly moving to get to the pond.
It reminded me of one of my favorite books, "Make Way for Ducklings."
I thought about how moms are always so protective of their young — whether they are babies or 60 years old.
I thought about how well the little goslings followed "directions" by staying in line and walking together.
They were barely making a peep. In fact, the only ones who were making any sounds were the adult geese, perhaps giving directions.
Up until that point in my day, I had been a little down. I was thinking about all I had to do today; the people I needed to tend to, the various events on my calendar.
Then, in one moment, I was with God. I was seeing His creation as if for the first time. I was so moved by the simplicity of this little goose family.
I know, I'm a bit weird. What can I say? But, that one moment with God turned my day around and made me so thankful for all the blessings He shows me every day.
How's your day going? Have you had any moments with God?
