Here are some examples of how the Republican Steve Weber Will CountyTreasurer’s Office has reduced fees:
1. There was a $2 fee to get a duplicate tax bill. Now the homeowner gets a duplicate tax bill for free.
2. Credit Card Fees have been reduced by 12%.

3. Issued an RFP for credit card processing and chose Wells Fargo Bank who will offer free ACH payments.
The Democrat Will County Recorder of Deeds asked for and received a no –bid contract with a contract which give half of all fees collected to the company. The fee increase will be based on what is determined by the no-bid contract company.

To the surprise of every Democrat on the Will County Board that voted for this, the States Attorney has said it is illegal without a cost study to raise fees. It is legal according to the States Attorney, but in my opinion, not in the best interest of the people of Will County to enter into no-bid contracts. All Republicans voted against this, but Democrats control the Board and got their way.
Democrats last year all voted to increase property taxes about $3,000,000. The salaries went up about $5,000,000 so taxpayers basically had a property tax increase to pay for increased salaries of government employees with the outstanding benefits, better than average wages, and job security. Republicans voted no.
This year Democrats want to take more of your money with yet another property tax increase, and fee increase. All Republicans voted no.
Last year Democrats voted to allow Will County to allow using aerial photos to give code violations. Republicans said no. The Resolution written by Steve Balich (Republican) to make it illegal to do, was killed after public hearing. Jim Moustis (Republican) forced the Resolution to go to the full board for a vote. Balich went to get the paperwork to take it to referendum. The thought of people being told the Democrats want to spy on you had caught the attention of County Executive Walsh (Democrat) who made an Executive Order which followed the Resolution proposed by Balich. This prevented the full vote of the County Board forced by Moustis and a referendum all which would have put Democrats in a negative light.
People for the most part regardless of political party, want smaller government, less regulations, taxes, and interfering in their private life.
