Crest Hill Man Tied Woman Up, Sexually Assaulted Her In Cab Of Semi-Trailer: Police

Police located the woman and her four small children after a 911 hang-up call.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Crest Hill man is accused of kidnapping a woman, tying her up, choking her and sexually assaulting her in the cab of a semi-trailer on Sunday. Bolingbrook police received a 911 call that a woman had been tied up and battered just after 7 p.m., but the call disconnected, according to Bolingbrook Lt. Anthony Columbus. Police were able to trace the call to a parking lot at 675 W. Frontage Road, where they found the victim tied up inside the cab of a semi-trailer.

Columbus said officers who responded to the call found Tanay D. Caruth, 52, of the 1100 block of Elizabeth Court, with four small children in the parking lot. Caruth told police there were "no problems" and that he was just there with the kids, Columbus said. Officers then learned that the victim was in the cab of a semi-trailer nearby, police said.

Officers knocked on the cab and heard the woman yelling from inside. They entered the cab and found her with her wrists tied up, Columbus said. Columbus said the woman is the parent or legal guardian of the four children.
