Forest Preserve Offering Free Events in Romeoville

"An Evening with Thoreau" will be held Feb. 4 and "Romantic Rendezvous" will be held Feb. 12.

ROMEOVILLE – The Forest Preserve District of Will County will be holding two events in Romeoville during the month of February.

“An Evening with Thoreau” is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road.

The evening features a hike around the preserve’s lagoon, warm drinks inside the Museum, and lively discussion on a chapter titled “Economy” from Thoreau’s master work, “Walden.” The chapter can be accessed at www.archive.org.

The free program is for ages 16 and older. Registration is required by Tuesday, Feb. 2; call 815-886-1467.

“Romantic Rendezvous” will be offered from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Celebrate Valentine’s Day – 18th century style! Learn historic rituals from times gone by, including dance steps from the 1700s and courtship trivia. The free program is for ages 16 and older. Registration is required by Wednesday, Feb. 10; call 815-886-1467.
