Free Shredding Event Aug. 22 in Romeoville
Residents will be able to have up to two boxes of paper documents shredded.

To help residents responsibly dispose of sensitive material and prevent identity theft, state Rep. Emily McAsey is hosting a Community Shred and Electronics Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 22. This free event will be held at McAsey’s constituent service office located at 209 W. Romeo Rd. in Romeoville.
“Almost everyone has old documents or electronics with sensitive information that they no longer need, but are concerned about this information falling into the wrong hands. Responsibly disposing of these items helps protect residents from identity theft, a problem which continues to get worse with each passing year,” McAsey said. “I encourage anyone who has old papers, tax returns, computers, CDs or hard drives with personal information to stop by and have these items safely destroyed and recycled.”
At the event, residents will be able to have up to two boxes of paper documents shredded onsite and can also bring old electronics for environmentally-responsible, secure recycling. These services are being provided free of charge.
