The district responded to the 1900 block of Amberleigh Court in Romeoville at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday.

LOCKPORT, IL — A fire damaged a garage in a home in Romeoville early Tuesday, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District said in a news release.
The district responded to the 1900 block of Amberleigh Court in Romeoville at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday, for a structure fire in the attached garage of a single-family, two-story home.
A resident of the home had been awakened by noise from the garage, and when she went downstairs to investigate, she found smoke coming from the door, the fire district said. The resident alerted the rest of her family, and all were able to exit the home safely before the fire department arrived.

Due to the resident leaving the door to the garage closed, the first engine company was able to quickly bring the fire under control and confine all the smoke and fire damage to the garage, the fire district said.
There were no injuries reported and services from Red Cross were not needed. The fire was upgraded to a "general alarm," which provided mutual aid assistance to cover the Lockport stations while companies worked at the fire.
