Gas Leak Closes Road In Romeoville

NICOR officials and Romeoville police are monitoring repairs at the site.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — NICOR officials were on the scene of a gas main leak at the corner of Fenton and Arlington late Thursday afternoon, according to the village. Officials said Romeoville police were notified of the leak at around 1 p.m.

"NICOR officials are currently on the scene repairing the leak," the village said in a press release. "No injuries have been reported and there were no homes evacuated. Arlington Drive has been closed between Glen and Everette due to the repairs. NICOR Representatives have tested the homes in the immediate vicinity and found no detection of gas. In addition, no detection of gas has been found in the storm sewers. Romeoville Police Department officials remain on site to monitor the repairs. At this time, the cause has not been identified."

In October 2016, a gas mean leak leveled two townhomes and injured two NICOR workers in Romeoville.
