Highlights from Romeoville's 8/18 Village Board Meeting

New Developments, Grant Application, and Aquatic Center Update

Here are some highlights from tonight's Village Board Meeting:

Construction and development continues in Romeoville. Here are some of the latest projects that are coming to the area.

  • Dunkin’ – A new Dunkin’ will fill the space left by the former Discount Tire at 671 N. Weber Road. It is expected to be open during the first quarter of 2022.
  • Burger King – Anticipated to open during the summer of 2022, Burger King will be constructed between the new Popeye’s and the existing Murphy Express gas station on Weber Road.
  • Belle Tire – The Michigan based tire store will construct a new building in the lot just north of Iron & Glass on Weber Road.
  • Victory Chapel – A proposal has been submitted to convert the building at 3 E. Romeo Road to a church for Victory Chapel.

The Recreation Department has received permission to apply for an Illinois Department of Natural Resources OSLAD grant for up to $400,000, which will help fund the development of the Diocese Property along 135th Street. In addition to the dog park, future plans call for a playground, shelter, challenge course, trails, baseball and soccer fields, a concession stand, batting cages, and restrooms.

Construction on the Romeoville Aquatic Center, located behind the Athletic & Event Center, will be moving forward with a groundbreaking to be held soon. The 22,000 square foot facility will also feature the largest outdoor splashpad in Romeoville.
