Lewis University will be hosting the Foodie 5K on Saturday, September 9th starting at 9 AM. All funds raised for this event will benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which is planning on building a South Suburban Center in Joliet by the end of the year.

“The Northern Illinois Food Bank does tremendous work for the communities it serves,” began Mayor Noak. “We’re eager to welcome them to the south suburbs and I think this run is a fantastic way to raise awareness. It’s fun, it’s healthy, and the money raised goes back to a great cause.”

Participants in the race will receive a $2 food truck voucher to use during the post-race festival, which will feature entertainment, kid’s activities, and gourmet food trucks. The 5K will be chip timed and awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each age group. To find out more about the event, visit www.SolveHungerToday.org/Foodie5K.
