Man Pulls Knife Over Lost iPhone Charger: Romeoville Police

The victim reportedly offered a replacement charger, according to police.

ROMEOVILLE, IL -- A 40-year-old man was arrested in Romeoville Friday after allegedly retrieving a knife -- then using it to flatten his victim's tire -- over a borrowed iPhone charger, police said.

Anson James Donald Babb was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, battery and criminal damage to property in connection with the March 31 incident. Although jail records list an address of 2423 W. Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove for Babb, court records state he lives in the 600 block of Nelson Avenue in Romeoville.

Romeoville police responded to the 600 block of Nelson at around 10:30 p.m. Friday for a report of an individual threatening people with a knife. Police said an officer arrived to find Babb already in custody by his victim.

According to police, Babb became upset after he loaned someone an iPhone charger and they failed to return it. The victim reportedly couldn't find the charger, but offered Babb a replacement, police said.

Instead of accepting the replacement, Babb is accused of going to his home, where he retrieved a kitchen knife. He returned with the knife and used it to slash a tire on the victim's car, according to police.

Police said he never swung the knife at anyone, and dropped the weapon after a victim punched him in the face.

No one was injured in the incident.

Babb was released after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bail on April 1, according to jail records.
