Meet Taco The Turtle: Newest Resident Of Romeoville Museum
Taco will be used to educate residents about her state-endangered species.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — For weeks, you cast your votes. Now, it's official: the Forest Preserve District of Will County announced its new Blanding's turtle at Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville is named Taco.
Now, the 7-year-old female turtle will help educate visitors to the museum about her specials. The museum's last Blanding's turtle, Buddy, was recently returned to a breeding program designed to increase the state-endangered species' numbers.
"This female turtle can't be released into the wild due to a genetic mutation, so she'll be used to help educate the public about this state-endangered species," the forest preserve said on YouTube.
