Marna J. (nee Longest) Spivey, born on April 6, 1933, in Long Point, Illinois passed peacefully at her home in Shorewood, Illinois on March 18, 2026, in the presence of her five children.

Marna grew up on a small farm in Streator, Illinois, where she met and married Lawrence Spivey. Marna was a devoted wife to Larry who was a Korean War Veteran. They moved to Joliet where they raised their family, and later retired to Tarpon Springs, Florida. They enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. In 2005, Marna returned to Illinois to reside with her daughter, Marla and four granddaughters. Marna greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their extracurricular activities and shoe shopping.

Marna was the beloved wife of Lawrence R. Spivey for 53 years and loving mother of Linda (Albert) Cox, Sandy (Michael) Zigrossi, Marla Spivey, Randy (Barb) Spivey, and Terry (Kara) Spivey. Marna was the proud grandmother of Adam Zigrossi (Sarah Anderson), Marc Zigrossi (Amy Trager), Geoff Zigrossi, Tara Spivey (Michael Cole), Lauren (John) Murdie, Alexandra (Colin) Hooks, Michele Baloy (DeMonte Denson), Melissa Baloy (Brandon Ruiz), Samantha Baloy (Andrew Highbaugh), Mason, Cole, and Ryann Spivey. Marna adored her great-grandchildren, John, Brock, and Colin Murdie, Isla and Matilda Hooks, and soon to be arriving great-granddaughter. Marna is also survived by her older sister, Dorothy (nee Longest) Walker.

Marna was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence R. Spivey; sister, Chrystal (nee Longest) Kent; and parents, Raymond and Nellie Longest.

Visitation for Marna J. Spivey will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held for immediate family following the services.
