Robert E. Grzetich, age 78, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center, in Joliet, surrounded by his family. Robert was born on November 3, 1947, in Joliet, to Nicholas J. and Mary (Pasternak) Grzetich, Sr.

A lifelong Crest Hill resident, Robert attended Chaney Grade School and graduated from Lockport West High School with the Class of 1965. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War with the 23rd Americal Division from March of 1968 to March of 1970. Bob was a co-owner of Pines Rental in Joliet along with his brother, Nick.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (nee Suste); his loving children, Anne (James) Wolff and Matthew (Meghan) Grzetich; two grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Grzetich; one brother, Nicholas (Susanne) Grzetich; one sister, Lori (Rudy) Rosenmayer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Mary; one sister, Nancy (Donald) Trainor; and his lifelong friends, John Dolosic, Dave Delrose, Don Dillion, and Tom Senffner.
A Memorial Visitation for Robert E. Grzetich will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) in Joliet. Funeral services will follow on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the funeral home with prayers at 9:00 a.m., to St.Carlo Acutis Church (formerly St. Ambrose Church) 1711 Burry Circle Dr. in Crest Hill, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Military Honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Army. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
