Online Sale Goes Bad As Seller Pulls Gun On Student: Cops
A student trying to buy a cell phone was able to escape after the seller pointed a gun at him.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A Lewis University student was able to escape without injury after a man claiming to be an online seller attempted to rob him at gunpoint Friday night. Lewis University police said the male student had arranged to buy a cell phone using a smartphone app, and had agreed to meet the seller in a university parking lot at around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
When the student met with the supposed seller in Lot L, the suspect produced a handgun and ordered him to hand over all his money. The student was able to escape "without injury or loss of property," police said.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot-9 black male with a slim build, hair shaved on the sides and slightly longer on top, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants. He fled the scene in an older-model white four-door sedan with darkly tinted windows and silver rims, police said.
