Semi Strikes Median, Minivan Causing Rollover

The driver of the semi was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

A driver of a semi truck was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions after he hit a median and a minivan, according to the Romeoville Police Department.

The semi dump truck was traveling southbound on Joliet Rd. going onto Route 53 when a minivan going southbound on Route 53 was making a right turn to continue southbound. The semitruck was unable to stop and struck the median and the minivan and then rolled over.

The semi also knocked down a traffic light and the fire department was called to the scene to make sure there were no live wires.

The 40-year-old woman driving the minivan and the 42-year-old man driving the semi were both conscious at the time of the crash. Their injuries were not classified as serious, but both were taken to a local hospital.

The road where the crash occurred is now open.

No drugs or alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash.
