Romeoville Approves Agreement With Cook County Sheriff's Office
The agreement is regarding the Romeoville Police Department's three-screen projection firearms training system.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Tuesday meeting, the Romeoville Village Board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Cook County Sheriff's Office regarding the police department's firearms training system.
Police Chief Ken Kroll said that the Village recently declared the department's TI firearm training simulator as surplus property.
"The current state of training for this type of thing is virtual reality goggles," Kroll said, adding that the department is in discussions to get a shared VR system.

Although the department is not using the three-screen projection system, Kroll said the system is still viable and the Cook County Sheriff's training academy would like the system.
In the intergovernmental agreement, the sheriff's academy would receive the three-screen projection firearms training system and the academy will waive registration fees of the department's next 10 recruit officers.

"Sounds like an excellent partnership," Mayor John Noak said.
