Romeoville Approves Agreement With Special Rec Association For Softball Field

The athletic facilities development intergovernmental agreement is with the Northern Will County Special Recreation Association.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Romeoville Village Board approved an athletic facilities development intergovernmental agreement with Northern Will County Special Recreation Association, as well as a new sports field license agreement.

"This is a product of a good exercise in cooperation between the Village and SRA to put together some support for the development of an adaptive sports field," Village Attorney Rich Vogel said.

The property, which is the future Romeo Crossing Park, is land formerly owned by the Diocese. Part of the development of the park includes an adaptive softball/baseball field.

"The terms of the agreement is that the SRA is going to contribute $300,000 to the Village in an upfront, lump sum to support the development," Vogel said. The SRA will then contribute $30,000 per year for 10 years.

"In exchange for that, the parties are going to enter into a license agreement that's going to set out the scheduling and usage rights. They're going to get certain days of the week and times of the week allocated for their use," Vogel said.
