Romeoville Blotter: Child Endangerment, Retail Theft

Incidents occurred between Oct. 9 and Oct. 20.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

Oct. 9

Nathan Toops, 26, of the 500 block of Belmont Dr. in Romeoville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of syringes and possession of drug equipment.

A retail theft was reported in the 200 block of South Weber Rd. An unknown female entered the store and took jewelry with a value of $37.76.

Sonia Herrera, 19, of the 100 block of Mountain Laurel Ct. in Romeoville, was charged with aggravated battery, obstructing an officer, child endangerment and criminal damage to state supported property.

Jose Bernal, 21, of the 100 block of Mountain Laurel Ct. in Romeoville, was charged with obstructing an officer and was also picked up on an in-state warrant.

A burglary from motor vehicle was reported in the 1600 block of William Drive. Unknown persons entered the vehicle and took a Bluetooth speaker, phone charger and credit cards from the vehicle. The credit cards were later used at two businesses. Total estimated loss is $77.00.

A burglary from motor vehicle was reported in the 500 block of Kathleen Drive. Unknown persons entered the vehicle and removed an iPod, speaker and a pair of boots. Total estimated value of the items is $280.00.

Oct. 15

Mark Canela, 18, of the 1700 block of Richfield Tr. in Romeoville, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance.

Oct. 16

A theft under $500 was reported in the 700 block of Farragut. Someone took an unattended bicycle valued at $193.00 from the yard of the residence.

Oct. 18

A criminal defacement of property was reported in the 100 block of Sedgewicke. Someone spray painted the tailgate of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence. The damage was removed by the owner.

A burglary from motor vehicle was reported in the 700 block of Roof Street. Someone entered the vehicle and took a wallet containing cash and prescription medication from the vehicle. Estimated value of the items taken is $400.00.

Oct. 20

A criminal defacement of property was reported in the 300 block of Murphy Drive. Someone spray painted the windows of a vehicle that was parked in the street. Estimated cost to remove the damage is $20.

A criminal defacement of property was reported in the 300 block of Eaton. Someone spray painted graffiti on the building doing an estimated $1000 in damage.
