Led by cadet Michael Janicke who shot the high score of the match, the Romeoville High School Marine Corps JROTC opened Orion National Air Rifle League Sporter -Distinguished Division competition with a 931-914 victory over Dallastown MCJROTC .

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the Orion National Air Rifle League is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. In a 7 week regular season, teams from across the country compete in a round robin win-loss league format. At the end of the season the top eight teams will compete for the league championship in a single-elimination tournament.
