Romeoville HS Takes 2 Top Spots at Robotics Competition

Each team was required to build and program robots designed to handle five challenges over the course of the day.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville High School’s Robotics Team turned in a strong showing at the Feb. 19 Joliet Junior College Robotics Engineering Competition, securing a second and a third place in the Expert Division.

Competing against 29 other teams, including squads from such high schools as Montini, Ottawa, Lockport, Minooka, Joliet and Lemont, the Spartans’ Matt Boots, Kyle Hewitt, Keanu Vasquez and Patrick Nowak were runnersup and Danny Spatz, Lucas Hopper, Justin Moyolt and Eivydas Raulynaitis finished third.

A third RHS team competed in the Novice Division but did not place in the top three.

Each team was required to build and program robots designed to handle five challenges over the course of the day. Among the challenges: navigating a maze, scoring pool balls on a table and fighting a battle bot.
