Romeoville to Launch Electronic & Hazardous Household Item Pickup

Program Starts May 1

Starting May 1, Romeoville residents living in single family homes and townhouses will have the ability to dispose of household materials like paint, cleaners, motor oil, garden chemicals, batteries, electronics, and more. The program is called “At Your Door Special Collection” and will be carried out by Waste Management. All a resident has to do is call Waste Management at 800-449-7857 or visit them at wmatyourdoor.com and request a pickup. They will then send the resident a disposal bag to put the materials in and instructions on where to leave it for pickup.

“The At Your Door program offers a tremendous convenience in getting rid of things every home accumulates,” explained Mayor John Noak. “Not only does this make things easier, but it also ensures these materials are being safely and properly disposed of.”

A list of acceptable materials for this program can be found at wmatyourdoor.com. Once this program goes into effect on May 1, the village will no longer offer electronic recycling at Public Works.
