Romeoville Local Election 2023: Races To Know

The consolidated election, which will be held April 4, will include local races for village trustee, park district boards and school boards.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The consolidated election is just over two months away, and there's a lot to know about what races Romeoville voters will see on their ballots.

The consolidated election, which will be held April 4, will include local races for village trustee, park district boards, school boards and library boards.

Write-in candidates have until Feb. 2 to file their intent with the county clerk.

Here's a look at what Romeoville voters will see on their ballots (be sure to check your district boundaries for schools, libraries, etc.):


For those who live in the Village of Romeoville, the Village Trustee race looks to be uncontested. There are three candidates running for three open positions:

  • Linda Palmiter
  • Kenneth Griffin
  • Lourdes Aguirre

All three candidates are incumbents and currently serve on the Village Board.


Some in Romeoville may reside in Lockport Township Park District boundaries. This race is also uncontested, with two candidates running for two open positions:

  • Don Bauer
  • Paul Nobis

Bauer currently serves as treasurer of the park district board.


The White Oak Library District, which has library branches in Romeoville, Lockport and Crest Hill, has four candidates running for two open positions:

  • Nancy Hackett
  • Ann Lopez-Caneva
  • Selina Boersma
  • Patricia Colella

Hackett and Lopez-Caneva are both currently on the board, and serve as secretary and vice president, respectively.


A large portion of Romeoville falls within Valley View School District boundaries, and the race for three open board member positions is a crowded one. There are 10 candidates:

  • James "JT" Boudouris
  • William "Bill" Spengler
  • Steven Quigley
  • Victoria "Vickie" Sutterlin
  • Nicole Pelzman
  • Laurie Ann Smith
  • Diana Parro
  • Randall Sutton
  • Jon-Pierre Bradley
  • Rafael Ortiz

Quigley currently serves as board president, and Boudouris and Parro are also currently on the board.


Some of Romeoville may fall within Plainfield District 202 boundaries. There are four candidates vying for three open positions in this race:

  • Margarita Morelos
  • Savena Joiner
  • Heather Roach
  • Elias Kalantzis

Roach is currently secretary of the board.
