Romeoville Mayor Gives State of the Village Address

The mayor spoke about new developments and the Village's financial condition.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville Mayor John Noak delivered his 8th Annual State of the Village address Thursday evening.

Noak began the presentation by ensuring the crowd that the Village’s financial condition is strong and that staff remains conservative with ongoing financial decisions, according to a release from the Village.

“The Village continues to make great strides in reducing costs by implementing new programs and training, which recently resulted in a reduction in insurance premiums of $1.3 million,” the release said.

A priority is also continuing to keep rates low for the residents. Romeoville’s portion of the tax bill for a typical home decreased from $755 per home in 2008 to $739 in 2014.

  • Ground breaking for the new Metra Station which will be held in October
  • 3 miles of additional multi-use paths connecting Weber Rd to I-55
  • The extension of Pinnacle Drive as another north-south road to relieve traffic from Weber Road.

Noak announced approximately 3.0 million sq. ft. of Industrial and 250,000 sq. ft. of commercial/retail coming in 2016 including Blain’s Farm and Fleet, Thornton’s, Presence Health Care and additional developments along the Route 53 corridor.

Mayor Noak saved the largest retail announcement for 2016 for the end of the presentation, which was Thomas Toyota. The 40,000 sq. ft. facility will be located at Grand Haven Circle and Weber Road.

The Chamber surprised Mayor Noak by presenting him with an Award of Excellence for his continued support to the Chamber.

For the second year, the event was held at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center. The Mayor noted that in 2015, the Center welcomed over 550,000 visitors for a variety of sporting and special events. New Events coming to the center in 2016 include the Romeoville Beer & Bacon Festival scheduled for April 2 and the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo in August.
