Romeoville PD Giving Away Steering Wheel Locks For Kia, Hyundai Owners

The wheel locks will be given away for free from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday in the east parking lot of Village Hall, 1050 W. Romeo Road.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — On Monday, the Romeoville Police Department will provide free steering wheel locks for Kia or Hyundai (model year 2011-2021) owners in an effort to stop vehicle thefts.

The police department partnered with Kia Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company, after a recent social media trend caused an increase in theft of Kia and Hyundai vehicles, the Village said on its Facebook.

The wheel locks will be given away for free from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday in the east parking lot of Village Hall, 1050 W. Romeo Road.

You must be a Romeoville resident and own a 2011-2021 Kia or Hyundai with a standard key start ignition system to qualify for the giveaway, according to the Village. Bring proof of both to the event.

The giveaway is first come, first served for the first 75 vehicles.
