Romeoville Police to Conduct Roadside Checks
Police will be on the lookout May 22 for violators.

If your idea of a good time is to get liquored up and go for a booze cruise you might want to stay home May 22. The Romeoville Police Department will be conducting roadside safety checks.
Romeoville Chief of Police Mark Turvey advised that safety checks are being conducted to promote the safety and well-being of the motoring public, and to provide a deterrent to those who might violate laws and ordinances pertaining to the safe operation of a vehicle.
In addition to drunk and drugged drivers, police will be looking for persons who are operating a vehicle with defective equipment, without a valid driver’s license or permit, without proof of insurance or not in compliance with occupant protection laws.

Plans have been established to conducts the checks at locations, such as route 53 south of 135th street, and during hours which will provide the maximum opportunity for the detection and apprehension of motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
