Romeoville Police Make Arrest in Death Investigation
Incident took place at 2:04 am this morning

See below for an updated release from the Romeoville Police Department.
On August 27th, 2021 at approximately 2:04 a.m. Romeoville Police Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Honeytree Drive in reference to gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old deceased male with a gunshot wound outside of a home. Responding officers immediately secured the area. During the initial investigation, information had been developed to indicate the victim was targeted by a subject he knew previously. There is no reason to believe there is a danger to the community. The investigation is being conducted by members of the Romeoville Police Department Investigations Unit. On August 27th, 2021 the Romeoville Police Department arrested Patrick Otchere (age 19, Romeoville) in reference to the death investigation on the 700 block of Honeytree Drive. The shooting occurred following a verbal altercation between the victim and Otchere. Otchere, personally knew the victim in this incident. Otchere is currently in the custody of the Romeoville Police Department and charged with second degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and violation of bail bond.
Charges are merely accusations and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
