Romeoville Resident Wins $50K Playing Powerball
The 49-year-old man says he plans to spend the money on home improvements.

Bob Somers, a lifetime resident of Romeoville, was “very pleasantly surprised” to discover he won a $50,000 prize in the historic $1.5 billion Powerball drawing, according to a release from the Illinois Lottery.
Somers was checking the winning numbers on the Illinois Lottery website when he realized that his ticket matched four numbers, plus the Powerball number, in the Wednesday, January 13th drawing. The winning numbers were - 04 - 08 - 19 - 27 - 34 – and the Powerball number was 10.
Somers, 49, is an occasional Lottery player and uses family birthdays as his numbers.

“I play Powerball about five times a year, whenever the jackpot is really big,” Somers said.
He plans to spend his winnings on home improvements.

The winning ticket was purchased at BP, located at 418 North Weber Road in Romeoville.
The retailer received a bonus of $500, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. For more information about Powerball please visit illinoislottery.com.
