Romeoville Teen Earns Eagle Scout Rank

ROMEOVILLE, IL — On Dec. 20, the Romeoville Village Board recognized the accomplishments of newly minted Eagle Scout Charles Pronger. The 18-year-old has been in the scouts since first grade, starting as a Tiger Scout and advancing up the ranks to Eagle, the highest you can go. Every scout needs to complete a community based project before they can receive their Eagle ranking and Charles chose to help his community.

Alongside Public Works Director Eric Bjork, Charles helped to label storm sewers and distribute flyers in neighborhoods, educating residents that the water flowing into these curb side drains goes into the surrounding water ways. The hope is this information will help keep pollutants like car washing chemicals, oil, fertilizers, and more from ending up in local creeks, rivers, and ponds.

“It takes a lot of hard work and commitment to become an Eagle Scout,” pointed out Mayor John Noak. “We’re very proud of Charles for achieving this and for helping Romeoville along the way.”

During his time in the scouts, Charles has earned 32 merit badges, served as a patrol leader, and became a Paul Bunyan Certified Woodsman. These are simply a few of his many accomplishments.
